About Mrs. Head
I was born and raised in the rural area of Vale, NC. My mom was a stay at home mom for my 2 younger brothers and myself. My dad owned his own cabinet shop as well as a bait and tackle shop. My family is very important to me.
I graduated from Lees-McRae College in 2006 with my teaching degree. This is my 14th year teaching. In 2012-2013 school year I began teaching kindergarten with Hickory Public Schools. I have taught at Longview in Kindergarten for 4 years and this is my third year in 3rd grade. I taught 1st grade and kindergarten for Burke County Schools before taking some time to be with my son. Then I took a part time position with Catawba County. In April of 2013 I received my masters degree from Grand Canyon University in Curriculum and Instruction: Reading. Teaching reading to young children is my passion.
In my spare time I enjoy reading and spending time with my family. I met my husband, Kevin, in 2008. We were married in April of 2009 and welcomed our son, Kaleb, in May 2010. He is 10 years old now and in 5th grade. In April 2018 we welcomed our daughter, Kynleigh. My husband is a fire inspector and is also a volunteer at our local fire department. I love teaching and am looking forward to teaching your child this year. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with in teaching your child this and making it their greatest year ever.
